Atkinson was born 6 January 1955 in County Durham. He was educated at Durham Choristers School, the same school where Tony Blair was educated and went on to study electrical engineering at Newcastle University before continuing his education at The Queen's College, Oxford. It was at Oxford that Rowan delved into the world of acting and performance art, appearing in early sketches for the Oxford University Dramatic Society.Career Highlights
Atkinson has starred in a host if TV shows including, Not the Nine O'clock News, Blackadder, Mr Bean and A Thin Blue Line. Mr Bean was so successful that it was made into a two movies, Bean (1997) and Mr Bean's Holiday (2007).Atkinson has also starred in films such as Never Say Never Again( 1983), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Rat Race (2001) Scooby-Doo (2002), Love Actually (2003), Johnny English (2003) and Keeping Mum [2005).
Interesting Facts
His older brother Rodney Atkinson is known for his involvement in politics and narrowly missed out in the 'UK Independence Party' leadership election in 2000.
Rowan Atkinson has around £100million worth of cars and crashed two of his most expensive ones, his Mclaren F1 and his Bugatti Veyron.
