Ray Quinn currently plays the part of
Doody, Danny's close companion in one of the West End's all time favourite shows,
Grease. Quinn claimed the part of Danny's fellow "T-Bird" on June 16th and will play the part until 15th of November. Quinn's part as
Doody comes shortly after he finished as runner up to Leona Lewis on ITV's hit reality talent show
X-Factor. He was offered a part in West End's show
Grease after his singing talents were revealed to the nation on X-Factor.
Early Life
Raymond Arthur Quinn was born on the 25th of August 1988 in Knowsley, Merseyside. Raised in Childwall, not far from Merseyside. Quinn is the third of three sons raised by parents Val and Ray senior. He enjoys living with his parents in Liverpool. Quinn claims that his closest friend is his girlfriend of just over a year, Kirsty McInerny. Quinn's first TV appearance was in the year of 2000 playing the role of troubled teenager Anthony Murray in the Channel 4 series
Brookside. He played the role for 3 years and in the year of 2002, he won the
Best Young Actor award, presented to him by
Inside Soap Award. Ray Quinn attended
Rudston Junior School in Childwall. He later went on to study Performing Arts at
Merseyside Dance and Drama College. It was after only 2 years of his 3 year course that Ray Quinn auditioned for ITV's talent show
X-Factor where he successfully made it to the finals, narrowingly missing out on first place to fellow singer Leona Lewis. Despite his despair at failing to win X-Factor,
Simon Cowell offered him a record contract and in early 2007 he travelled to Los Angeles to cut his self-titled Sony BMG debut, a variety of swing-era classics including
My Way and
Ain't That a Kick in the Head. The release of this album topped the UK pop charts and earned Quinn a £100,000 sponsorship deal with
Wella Hair Products. Whilst growing up in Childwall, Ray attended Rudston Junior School where he had his own singing coach, Suzanne Taylor. From a young age Suzanne was Quinn's biggest influence in his life, helping him fulfil his dream of becoming a professional singer.
Career Highlights
Ray Quinn's acting career began in 2000 when he was given the role of Anthony Murray in Channel 4's popular soap opera
Brookside which he starred in for there years. After this, the young Raymond Quinn was offered the part in the short film
Bulletproof that was released in March 2006. Although the short film ran for only 10 minutes it received numerous reviews, all of which praised the performance of all actors and actresses involves, especially one, young Ray Quinn.
