Jones was born in 1985 in Stoke-On-Trent. She studied at St Ivo School and trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in Wood End, where she graduated in 2006.

• She had never appeared on a professional stage before getting the part in Hairspray.
• Whilst searching for earlier stage work, Jones took a job in a jewellers in Liverpool Street Station and taught drama in a secondary school.

• Her childhood dream was to star opposite Michael Ball.
