John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947 and was raised in Pinner, Middlesex. He was educated at Pinner County Grammar School but left before his A Level exams to pursue a career in music.Career Highlights
John has worked with his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin since 1967, collaborating on more than 30 albums. He has sold 250 million records and his single Candle in the Wind, which he played at the funeral of Princess Diana, sold 37 million copies and became the best selling single of all time.John is a talented and inspirational songwriter and has collaborated with Tim Rice many times, producing scores for Disney's The Lion King, on both screen and stage. The formidable due also had great success writing songs for a Disney production of Aida and the DreamWorks animated film The Road To El Dorado. John has also successfully worked alongside Lee Hall on the West End show Billy Elliot.
