Early Life
Andrew Lloyd Webber was born 22 March 1948 in South Kensington. He was a Queens Scholar of Westminster School and went on to study history at Oxford University, however, dropped out in 1965 to pursue his interest in musical theatre. He wrote his first musical with Tim Rice, The Likes of Us,in the same year though it was not performed until 2005.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's work includes the The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, both of which with Cameron Mackintosh, which ran on Broadway for over 20 years. His new show The Wizard Of Oz the musical will open on 26 April 2011 at the London Palladium.
