Alistair McGowan last took to the stage in 2008 appearing as Emcee in the West End production of Cabaret and They're Playing Our Song at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Early Life

McGowan was born just outside Evesham, Worcestershire on 24 November 1964 and was educated at the Simon de Montfort School and Evesham High School. He studied English at the University of Leeds before going on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Career Highlights

McGowan is perhaps best known for his Big Impression and presenting Have I Got News For You.

McGowan has starred in West End shows including Little Shop of Horrors and Cabaret. He also starred in They're Playing Our Song at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Interesting Facts

McGowan is a patron of the urban tree-planting charity Trees for Cities

Awards

McGowan collected a BAFTA Award for the Best Comedy Programme or Series for Big Impression in 2003. The show also collected Best Entertainment Performance from the RTS Television Award in 2002.
