Theatre Architecture

The Architecture of The Adelphi

The Adelphi Theatre is an excellent example of Art Deco style. The current theatre as it stands today was designed by Ernest Schaufelberg who used straight lines and thirty two degree angles to create a theatre without curves. This central design feature is notable from the bar window facing the road, which devoid of curves is angular in design. This quirky design feature runs throughout the theatre from the stage to the boxes, creating symmetry between the interior and exterior.

In common with many London theatres, the Adelphi Theatre has a simple exterior with a more refined, detailed interior.
